SAP FICO Custom Code Assessment

Assess custom code in euros, not lines of code.

We translate your SAP FICO custom code into business relevance. Not 1,000 findings, but 20 prioritized business decisions for your S/4HANA transformation.

  • What is relevant to the balance sheet or P&L?
  • What puts closing, scope, or budget at risk?
  • What can be eliminated, migrated, standardized, or replaced with AI?

The S/4 decision gap

TIME PRESSURE

2027

ECC maintenance ends

Unclear scope questions get expensive.

UNCLEAR

Critical, replaceable, or safe to retire?

Finance and project leads lack a reliable assessment.

DEFAULT

Migrate everything

Delayed decisions drive scope, budget, and timeline.

From project reality

"We don't know what we can switch off. Our monthly close depends on two ABAP experts."

Head of Finance & Controlling, manufacturing company

Outcome & ROI

Where is the value and what does inaction cost?

Which Z objects tie up budget, create closing risk, or add avoidable S/4 effort.

Eliminate

Which Z objects no longer serve a business purpose and can be safely decommissioned.

Migrate

Which objects are business-critical and belong on the migration path — and which don't.

Mitigate closing risk

Which custom code dependencies put the monthly or annual close at risk.

Standardize or replace with AI

Where SAP standard or AI-powered alternatives can replace custom code.

How we work

From first call to savings in 3 steps.

1Step 125 minutes

First meeting

25 minutes. You describe your S/4 status. We show the sample report and honestly assess whether a Scope Check is worthwhile.

2Step 22 days

Code Scope Check

Based on technical exports, we analyze your custom code automatically — no system access required. Scope, risks, and quick wins become visible immediately.

3Step 34 weeks

Custom Code Assessment

We connect to your system and analyze the custom code in depth. You receive a prioritized report with recommendations, effort estimates, and a clear roadmap.

FAQ

Answers for SAP decision-makers

It is most valuable before or early in an S/4HANA migration, while scope, priorities, and remediation are still open to influence. Mid-program, it helps when effort, risk, or closing impact are still unclear.

Not a technical object list, but a decision package with prioritized business decisions, an assessment of scope, risk, and closing impact, plus concrete next steps. That is what teams can use for prioritization, budget, and approvals.

A pilot can start with a clearly scoped finance area or a prioritized object package. The goal is to show quickly and credibly whether a broader assessment is worth it for your FICO workstream.

Ideally three viewpoints are involved: Finance as the business decision-maker, a FICO key user or process owner, and someone from IT or application management. The full assessment does not require tying up a large team.

Not for a compact initial review. For the full assessment, we usually need read-only access to the relevant FICO custom objects in the development system.

We work as data-light as possible and usually start with object lists, code, documentation, and process context. If system access is needed, it is read-only and limited to what is necessary for the classification.

You receive a full report with prioritized decisions. Execution can then be handled by your internal team, your SAP partner, or Ellunium.

ATC surfaces technical warnings around syntax, performance, or compatibility. Our assessment answers the business question: what impact does the object have, and what should you do with it for the migration?

If you only need a technical code scan, if the migration scope is already locked from a business perspective, or if there is no finance-side decision-maker involved. The greatest leverage exists where scope, risk, and prioritization decisions are still open.

Yes. Every custom object is checked against the current S/4HANA standard: Is there already a standard solution, a simplified Fiori app, or a new API that can replace the custom code? This feeds directly into the recommendation – eliminate, standardize, or migrate.

No black box. Our AI analyzes code dependencies, usage patterns, and standardization potential. Every recommendation is validated by our SAP FICO experts and enriched with business context – you get traceable, well-founded decision templates.

The Scope Check takes 3 days – afterward you know whether and where a full assessment is worthwhile. The Custom Code Assessment itself runs for 4 weeks and concludes with a complete report including prioritized recommendations.
